INTERVIEW WITH MUSICIAN DALAND AKA LION MACHINE 23

“I see a hell of a lot of rubbish, boring acts out there so maybe lol."

We went and met musician and rock n roll star Daland before one of his gigs in one of our favourite watering holes The Hawley Arms in Camden, North London. We asked his thoughts on being attached to a record label and who he would love to open a show for.

So who is Daland Jones? Where did you grow up and how did you get into music?

It's just DALAND, Like Prince or Madonna. Its Daland bitch. I grew up in Buenos Aires and moved to London as a teen. My dad was a musician so was always around music and my first obsession with music were probably The Sex Pistols.

Tell us what the hell is Lion Machine 23?

Lion machine 23 is a modern rock and roll band also a comic I wrote about a future dimension stealing the lion machine number 23 from the empire and riding it into the light.

Do you think it’s important this day and age to be signed to a record label?

I can't really answer that. I see a hell of a lot of rubbish, boring acts out there so maybe lol.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I dunno about “the industry “ I would change the worldwide educational system, school for example teaches you to shut up listen and to believe that there's one right answer, there’s no such thing as ONE RIGHT ANSWER there’s many different ones, and so on … if they wanna live in capitalism they should teach people how to make their own profit with their own ideas… history is history innit!

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Liam, The Stones, PIL, Peter Hook and the light, Britney Spears, The ones that matter, The Brian Jonestown massacre and Dandy Warhol’s.  Also The verve if they were still going all amazing acts.

Any projects in the pipeline? Tell us about where you see yourself a couple of years from now?

Nothing too major in the pipeline just yet just gigging and getting everyone to know who Lion machine 23 are for now, in a couple of years I see my self happy doing more of the same living that rock n roll lifestyle :)

Here at The Hobo Journal we love to travel (hence the name) where’s the best place you have ever been to and why?

TBH I haven't got to travel that much yet… I would love to go Japan and Berlin there always on my mind, but from where I’ve travelled I think Glasgow is my favourite Place. The people are cool they look cool and they got great whiskey .
